Stone Cottage WoodanillingAre you researching a place on the State Register of Heritage Places? If so, you can download lots of useful information from our online Places Database. The link to the Places Database is in the top right of your browser window. Our library is also available to you by appointment.

If the heritage place you are interested in is listed on a local  heritage inventory, you may wish to contact the relevant local government for more information. Local historical societies, libraries and museums are also great resources.

If you are researching the history of your home, you might be interested to read the story on pages 10 and 11 of the August 2007 edition of Heritage Matters.

The J.S. Battye Library is part of the Alexander Library Building in the Perth Cultural Centre. It collects and preserves material relating to Western Australia and provides a reference service based on that material. The collection consists of books, serials, newspapers, maps, government publications, ephemera, photographs, manuscripts, oral history interviews, films and videos.
